Afternoon Tea Week will be in full swing from 9-15 August – and, it’s the perfect opportunity to round up friends or family and indulge. Luckily, there are plenty of places up and down the King’s Road to do just that.
As popular for its Instagrammable interiors as it is for its delicious sweet treats, Peggy Porschen is not to be missed. In collaboration with designer Olivia Burton, they’ve come up with a mouth-watering menu of delights where classic meets experimental. Each afternoon tea is served with a traditional selection of sandwiches, scones, pastries and a choice of tea (or fizz). Afternoon Tea is available year-round at this Chelsea favourite, but this week gives us all a real excuse to enjoy it. Priced at £26.50 and served from Thursday to Sunday between 3pm and 4.30pm on the first floor, expect a usual fare plus a selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolates. Opt for bubbles and you’ll enjoy a delicious glass of Nyetimber – choose between classic or rose.

At £30 per person (£40 with a glass of Champagne), there’s not a soggy-bottomed sandwich or unimaginative cake in sight with Beaufort House’s Classic Afternoon Tea. You’ll be spoilt for choice with their savoury selection, which includes Chicken Caesar Wraps and tasty Tomato & Mozzarella sandwiches, but ensure you leave space for all the delicious desserts on the top tier.

It doesn’t get much better than afternoon tea at The Ivy. Ask for a spot in the gorgeous conservatory and dig into artfully arranged tiers of scones, sandwiches and sweet treats; it’s a perfect spot for a catch up, rain or shine. Served between 3-5pm, their Champagne Afternoon Tea is priced at £36.95, while their Summer Garden option is available for £27.95. Feeling like a lighter bite? Opt for a traditional Cream Tea which includes scones, jam and clotted cream, plus a hot drink of your choice for just £8.95.

In the heart of Sloane Square lies the Draycott Hotel; a perfect spot for an elegant and quintessentially English afternoon tea. Choose either a cool glass of Champagne or a range of the highest quality blended afternoon teas, which will be served with quaint finger sandwiches, homemade scones, clotted cream and fruity jam. Plus a tier of ever-tempting cakes and pastries, prepared daily. Celebrating a special occasion? Upgrade to a bottle of rose Champagne instead.

For something a little quirkier (where your four-legged friends will also be more than welcome), head to the Love My Human Townhouse. A new arrival on the road, the new concept store features a dog-friendly cafe, doggy daycare and even therapy rooms for pets. Pop in for an afternoon tea from noon till 5pm, comprising a simple but delicious menu of finger sandwiches (in the shape of daschunds, naturally), scones and hot drinks. Plus, if your pooch is peckish, there’s a full doggy menu as well, which has been lovingly created by renowned dog nutritionist, Anna Webb. Head up to the roof terrace afterwards for a little outdoor playtime.

For something a little stronger, 2850 Chelsea are offering a Winemakers Afternoon Tea. Expert sommeliers will guide you through a tasting of world-renowned wines, matched with perfectly paired tasters, including truffle arancini and salmon ceviche. For those with a sweet tooth, they will also include their popular chocolate madeleines with creme anglaise and scones accompanied by champagne infused strawberry jam. Available between midday and 6pm and priced at £60pp.
