The Summer of Champions has begun!
Pizza Pilgrims is shining a spotlight on the champions of the pizza world with three award-winning pizzaiolos serving up their signature creations across July, August and September. Each pizza has taken home serious silverware, think international pizza competitions and top-tier accolades, and now, giving them pride of place on Pizza Pilgrims menus for a limited time only.
July Guest Pizza: Pizza Veloute
First up for July is the incredible Carlo Sammarco – one of the leading lights of Napoli’s new school pizza scene, known for crafting seasonal, colourful pizzas with serious style. Carlo grew up near Piazza Garibaldi in Napoli and fell in love with pizza aged just 13. These days, he runs a buzzing 200-seat pizzeria on the outskirts of Caserta, complete with a living moss wall and queues out the door—even in 40°C heat.
His July creation, Pizza Veloute, is a bold, summery beauty with a base of vibrant purple potato purée topped with rich guanciale, creamy fior di latte, fresh basil leaves that only grow this big in June. As Carlo puts it: “You can’t beat that.”
Everything about this pizza screams seasonality and joy. It’s rich, colourful, and full of personality–just like Carlo. He changes his menu four times a year and believes that colour is just as important as flavour because, in his words, “your eyes have tastebuds”.

August Guest Pizza: The Cossaca
This August, Pizza Pilgrims Introduces Salvatore Salvo!
Salvo, third-generation Napoli pizza royalty, joins the Summer of Champions collaboration. He’s brought his passion for reviving Neapolitan classics to the pizza roster, reviving the Cossaca, made with top-quality San Marzano tomatoes, basil, extra virgin olive oil, and finely grated Pecorino Romano.
A longtime friend of Pizza Pilgrims, Salvo played a key role in the Neapolitan pizza revival 20 years ago, championing quality local ingredients and working alongside Michelin-star chefs to bring tradition back to life so you can trust his serious expertise.

September Guest Pizza: Scugnizzo Per Sempre
Pizza Pilgrims wraps up its summer Pizza of Champions series with a final, unforgettable slice.
September’s spotlight is on Ciro Casella. A true ‘Scugnizzo’, a Neapolitan term for street-smart spirit and bold character, Ciro has been perfecting pizza since he was 17, learning from Napoli’s finest.
Packed with punch, this pizza combines slow-cooked tomato and garlic sauce, creamy provola smoked mozzarella, crunchy pancetta, a dusting of black pepper, and fresh basil, Napoli’s spirit on a plate for only £14.50.
