This year, International Women’s Day celebrations are taking place beyond just 8 March in Chelsea. From yoga workshops to in-store events and all-female DJ line-ups, mark this important time of year in a whole host of ways this month.
A month of female DJ sets at Bluebird
Bluebird Chelsea are celebrating the whole month with a line-up of female DJs every Friday throughout March.
With previous sets including Cafe del Mar in Malta, London-born DJ Miranda starts the series on Friday, 4 March before the restaurant welcomes DJ Carly’s eclectic repertoire of myriad styles. The DJ and producer has residencies including The Arts Club and Annabel’s Mayfair, alongside regular appearances at high profile events including the Cannes Lions and Monaco Formula One Grand Prix.
Head down on 18 March to catch 90s-house and disco-influenced DJ Rachel, who also infuses her varies sets with future soul and electronica. A regular at Sky Garden and Quaglinos, it’s sure to be a great night. And finally, Toronto-based DJ Annie closes the months with the final set on 25 March. The DJ, radio host and club promotor can usually be found at Ace Hotel Shoreditch where her NIGHT DREAMS set is a haven for fans of Hip Hop, Grime, Trap and R&B.
A week of events at Astrid & Miyu
Female-founded jewellery brand Astrid & Miyu is taking the whole week to celebrate International Women’s Day with a series of events. All profits will go to the Lady Garden Foundation – a national women’s health charity raising awareness and funding for gynaecological cancer. From life drawing to nipple tassel workshops (yes, really!), every event is designed around female empowerment. The schedule runs from 7-11 March, with candle making and life drawing taking place in their King’s Road store. You can buy tickets to all events here.
