From terrific tacos and comfort food favourites, here are the most delicious ways to eat plant-based or vegan along the King’s Road – perfect for Veganuary.
Wulf and Lamb
Wulf and Lamb can be found on Pavilion Road and is the home of delicious all-day plant-based dining . The Smoked Tofu Bao bun with kimchi, smoked tofu and crispy onions is a must-try and their best-seller, the Chilli ‘Non’ Carne with smoky chilli of spiced mushrooms, lentils & kidney beans on basmati herb rice topped with cashew sour cream, lime and coriander cress, is a cuddle for the tummy – perfect for the January-chill.

Headed up by a Michelin-trained chef, a meal at The Phene promises delicious flavours and plenty of plant-based options. Tucked away behind a leafy enclave just a stone’s throw from the Thames, hungry visitors can nibble on Confit Pumpkin to start, with spiced puree, a pumpkin seed and herb crumb and toasted pumpkin oil before indulging in a Woodland Mushroom Nut Roast. Looking for something light to share? The Deli Board, with hummus, radishes, pesto and a gooey rosemary focaccia, makes for the perfect accompaniment to drinks.

With a dedicated Vegan menu, there’s no shortage of deliciousness at King’s Road Mexican, Mestizo. An extensive range of Antojitos are available to start, including Guacamole and Empanadas, with a further six taco filling options for those following a plant-based diet. If you’d rather share amongst family and friends, the in-house speciality, the Molcajete ‘Mestizo’ or the Taco Tray provide an interactive way to feast. It is worth noting, Margherita’s are 100% vegan too.

Inspired by flavours from across the world, Vardo offers plenty of plant-based dishes right in the centre of the hustle and bustle – grab a window seat and escape the January-chill or wrap-up warm and pick a seat al fresco for prime people watching. Small plates are perfect for sharing, with vegan options including Crispy Jerusalem Artichokes with green tahini and pomegranate as well as Crispy Chilli Salt Tofu, and a selection of grain bowls offer something delicious and more filling, the Split Pea Dahl for example comes with a delicious sour onion bhaji, coconut yogurt and further flavoursome toppings. The chocolate mousse is exceptional and also plant-based so no need to decline dessert.

For when only an icon will do, book a table at Pizza Express because yes, they do do Vegan Dough Balls (complete with their new vegan garlic and parsley spread). Choose from ten plant-based pizza flavours including American Hot, Padana and Giardiniera as well as a Leggera option for something lighter, or enjoy their Vegan Melanzane for something warm and comforting.

Granger & Co.
Aussie all-day dining on Pavilion Road, Granger & Co. is well-worth the queue. Famed for bringing avocado on toast to us all (and theirs is excellent), you certainly aren’t short for plant-based options here. Start the day with Bill’s almond, buckwheat and pumpkin seed granola, complete with coconut yogurt and a blueberry hibiscus compote and for something warming later in the day, enjoy Braised cannellini beans, grilled radicchio, winter tomatoes and basil.
